I am jealous of Wired News copy chief Tony Long. And it's because he gets paid to crap out intellectually vacant drek like this:
I can think of no reason why anyone within 10 miles of an actual bookstore would buy a book at Costco or Wal-Mart. Ever.
Here's one for you, Einstein. I'll type slow so you can stay with me: Because. It's. Closer. Here's another: Because. It's. Probably. Cheaper.
Damn. Long's goat picture must be a hum-dinger.
Posted by Chris at October 12, 2006 05:41 PMIt's worse than that. This guy completely missed the boat. Where has he been for the last fifteen years? Didn't he see "You've Got Mail"? It isn't Wal-Mart and Costco that are killing the small bookstores, it's the big corporate chain bookstores, like Barnes & Noble and Borders.
Wal-Mart's book selection isn't even that good, unless you are looking for the latest "Oprah's Book Club" selection or trendy movie tie-in novel.
