Why is my main page blogroll missing? Well, I'll tell you.

Like a lot of bloggers, I use blogrolling.com to manage my blogroll. It automatically generates the blogroll every time somebody loads the main page of my blog by making a JavaScript call to rpc.blogrolling.com.

For some inexplicable reason, Secure Computing's web proxy, SmartFilter, now thinks rpc.blogrolling.com is a sex site, so anybody looking at my blog from a work environment that uses SmartFilter as a web proxy will A) see no blogroll, since the call is blocked, and B) generate a 'this user tried to access a sex site' message to the SmartFilter log file. Most SmartFilter customers have this log file reviewed by their IT, HR, Legal, and/or Ethics departments. Needless to say, this isn't where you want to be.

As of July 2004, this has happened twice. The first time, on April 23, 2004, I submitted a SmartFilter request to reclassify rpc.blogrolling.com as 'Personal,' which is the same category used for www.blogrolling.com. It took about two weeks for SmartFilter to unscrew itself. The same thing happened on July 18, 2004, and it isn't fixed yet. So without further ado, I bring you:
