The only reason I watch the early rounds of American Idol is to see the utterly talentless people who think they'll be the next winner. I wish I could make every single one of them read this study:
"People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains. The authors suggest that this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it."
Of course, it wouldn't help. They'd just think "Those poor metacognitively-challenged fools."

I am now 50 and have not gotten over the hurtful words that they inflicted on me. I know the power of the word and the "Sticks and stones may break your back, but words may never hurt me" is nonsence...words hurt and I have two dead brothers to prove this fact-they was both hurt by words for many years, and both committed suicide-one was 14 and the other 20. I attempted but happy that I am still here to educate others on this killer of words. I think I am here because I am female and crying was an outlet, I did not hold it in as much.
